Location Brimscombe. I took these photos back in the year 2000 as evidence by the cars of that time.
In 1935 the mill was (and still is) known as Hacks Mill and produced umbrella sticks. I don’t have much more information at this time.
The area to the left of the first photo which is now a car park was once the mill pond.
The main use of this site in the 80s was that of a scrap yard. Now in 2024 it’s home to various small businesses including a cycle sales and repair shop.
The above building is currently home to The Felt Cafe. Remember, these are very old photos taken in 2000 on a drab day. It’s all a lot smarter now!
The viaduct in the background is the GWR line between Stroud and Swindon. In the immediate foreground is the canal that this approach road crosses.
