I found a couple of old postcards showing Bridge Street and George Street in Nailsworth.
The cards are undated but the cars in them will give an indication of the year, if you know old cars! I got them from R&R Books in Stroud.
Sadly R&R aren’t renewing their shop lease so will be closing in January 2026 but they will still have a stall at the Stroud Shambles market on Saturdays.

The above shows George Street which is the road that leads up to the W. The old George Hotel is on the right. The white building on the left is no longer there. Hobbs is the grey building behind it.

The photo above shows Bridge Street (the A46). The entrance to Springhill can be seen on the left that looks a lot narrower than it is today. The road that goes off to the right is the Avening road.
I have recollection of advertising posters on the wall in the lower right of the photo from back in the 80s. The building on the right was part of the George Hotel which back then was a Masonic Hall. It was later used as a function room.
Note the old telegraph / electricity pole. We still have them but they rarely look like that if at all these days.
