Refurbished footbridge at Stroud railway station May 2025

The station footbridge was removed last year for refurbishment and is now back in place and open for use. The footbridge is a listed structure.

Its had a complete repaint both inside and out along with new flooring and coverings on the steps. The steps now have a somewhat rubbery bounce to them!

Previously the bridge was painted blue and white which were the colours of the carriages from the old British Rail days.

The repaint of the bridge and station has been done in the original GWR colours of chocolate and cream.

The platform canopy and support pillars have also been repainted in the same colours. It all looks very smart compared to the how it looked last year.

Compared to the bus station in Stroud the railway station is a palace!

It’s good to see that the only clear window on the bridge hasn’t been replaced with a frosted one like all the others. It would have been great if they could have added one to the other side as the view towards the old goods shed is better!
